Fake It Till You Make It
Artist Statement:
The series of photographs that I made showcase the way people feel like they need to act around others. Sometimes it’s the smile that they need to wear even if they are falling apart. Sometimes it’s the thoughts they need to hide, because everyone else needs to think that they are alright.
What I have observed is that people don’t want to know how you think or feel when they ask how you are. All they really want to hear is that you are fine. This is not the way that people should feel like they need to act around others. People should be able to talk about how they are doing with other people and not feel like they are being a burden or unwanted.
